Preparation Ahead of the Appointment

The work that we do ahead of an installation is perhaps the most important work of all. When we visit your home for that initial assessment to talk to you about installation, we take notes about your current system so that we can plan ahead for any adjustments we need to make for your new system. Replacing an older model with a newer version of the same type of system is a little easier.

All of the existing connections are already in place, and while we may need to make some minor updates, your new heating system will largely be plug-and-play. Switching to a new system may require us to create new connections leading from your home, whether that means running new gas lines or electrical lines.

When we arrive on the day of installation, we will also take time to prepare at that point for the installation that lies ahead. We will create a workspace by laying drop cloths to protect your floors and moving furniture and other items out of the way of our workspace to protect your belongings.

Out With the Old

Now it’s finally time to get to work. First, we carefully remove your old system. After doing this, we can assess the connections coming from your home more closely. If we need to run new electrical or gas lines so they are fresh for your new system, we will do that.

We can also replace other types of connections and valves that will help optimize your new heater. Our goal is to set your new heater up for success from day one. After all, how your new system gets installed can have a major impact on its energy efficiency for the rest of its lifespan.

We want to give your system the best energy efficiency and consistent operation by taking care during installation to complete each step correctly.

In With the New

Once everything is ready, we can place your new system and get it connected. The largest part of this is post-setup and testing after the system is in place. We have to make sure that it is properly pressurized, that refrigerant levels are adequately charged if necessary, and that electricity and gas lines are all correctly connected.

Then we can begin testing to ensure that your new system reaches desired temperatures and heats your home up evenly. We will test vents and ductwork and may need to make adjustments to optimize performance. Finally, we get to talk to you about how to work your new system.

You’re probably familiar with how to operate heaters and air conditioners in a general way. But we want to be sure you understand your specific system. We can make suggestions for thermostat settings and how to use your new system wisely to reduce wear and tear and give it the best chance in a long lifespan.
